Cat Power

Cat power (aka. Chan Marshall) spent most of her childhood moving from place to place in the southern U.S. She dropped out of high school and began performing in Atlanta. She eventually moved to New York and opened for Liz Phair in 1994, which jump-started her music career. On that tour, she met Sonic Youth drummer (Steve Shelley) and Two Dollar Guitar's Tim Foljahn and they agreed to be her backing band. She immediatley started recording music. After releasing her first two albums, she took a break from the music scene for a while. Cat had planned to permanently retire, but had a nightmare one night which provided as musical inspiration. That sleepless night led to the creation of the album, Moon Pix. Cat has toured off and on over the past few years and released her most rececnt album, The Greatest, earlier this year.
